Getting back on Air

It’s been a while since I’ve been on the air properly. Yes dabbled with Echolink & few contacts on local repeaters, but I’ve been slowly trying to sort out my shack in the flat I now live in.

I don’t have a garden so my Hustler 6-BTV was sold so. After moving in May last year.

And now I’ve sold my Icom IC-756ProIII.

This week I’ve finally got a part I needed for my Buddipole so should be days and I’m back transmitting.

I’ve also ordered with some of the funds from selling the Icom bid & won a Yaesu FT-817ND radio with tuner & other bits. Looking forward to it arriving. The plan in part is to use on treks around Richmond park in London as its just around the corner from me.

I’ll need to update the Shack pages here and will also try to “Finally” sort out being able to use my MKARS radio in the shack.

6 Months Weight Loss

It’s been 6 months  since I started trying to loose weight.

I have played about with different things to get to where I am today and happy to see results almost daily.

30th June 2012 I got my FitBit Ultra tracker. I soon learned about MyFitnessPal and there was a period when I was not sure which I wanted to use and various trials to where I am today. I also have the FitBit scales.

Start Weight

24 st 1 lbs 15 oz (53.30 kg, 337 lbs 15 oz) & 54.5 BMI

Today’s Weight

20 st 1 lbs 0 oz (127.48 kg, 281 lbs 0 oz) & 45.361 BMI

Weight Lost

4 st 0 lbs 14 oz (25.82 kg, 56 lbs 14 oz) or 20.25% of my start weight

Steps Total

1,851,398 steps
846.98 miles, 1,363.09 kilometres walked

Unboxing Pic of 3G Router

Just quick pic I took while un-boxing my Chinese 3G Router for £20 ish from eBay.

It’s described as a 1.8A power bank, 3G hotspot (you provide own 3G stick) & Mini Wifi Access point.

Not bothered too much by the 1.8A battery as have 7a pack, but hope it works on other 2 selling points. Hopefully I’ll report back soon.

Feel I’ve reached a new low

On 4th July I started using a FitBit pedometer to help me get fit. Shortly after on 12th July thanks to my mum I got the FitBit scales.

Well in a little over a month as you can see above I’ve now lost 20lbs / 1st 6lbs / 9kg in weight.

I’ve not changed to much in my life to achieve this.

I walk more, and I eat healthier. I haven’t banned myself from any foods or drink, but but calorie counting everything (even my Ales & Beers) and keeping below what the FitBit.com website recommends I’m loosing the weight.

I still have a long way to go, but already the changes I’ve made are paying off.

Operating from a Flat

It’s been a month since I moves in with my girlfriend. I was living in a 3 be semi-detached house and had a Hustler 6-BTV in the rear garden for HF. That’s now been sold on eBay.

Now I’m in a 3 be 3rd/4th floor maisonette (flat) with only a balony gr my antennas.

I’ll be posting here soon about how I’m getting back in air.

Update: I had to cut short posting earlier, but I didn’t say I’ve now got a Buddipole. The version I have is the Buddipole W3-BP which is the Dipole version. So far I’ve not actually used, but I’ve checked and seems all the parts are there.
